Rotring最高階款式的800系列，在外觀以及操作上都與其他系列有些不同。外觀上最明顯的差異就是有金色處理的零件、裝飾於筆尖與筆尾。
工程筆並非只限於專業人士才能使用，它也非常適合一般書寫用途，只不過它的中文名稱容易讓人聯想到專業領域（其實工程筆的英文名稱不會讓人感到有任何”專業”的味道）。以前的Rotring雖然多為德國製造，現在已改為日本製造為主。
